Three-time Olympic medallist Lydia Ko is back in the Asian golfing spotlight this week as she competes in the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The New Zealand star joins a strong international field at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, where the LPGA Tour event runs from 29 October to 1 November 2026, offering a US$3 million prize purse.

Ko’s remarkable career has already secured her a place among women’s golf’s most accomplished players. She made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning gold, completing an extraordinary collection of Olympic medals following silver in Rio in 2016 and bronze in Tokyo in 2021.

That Paris victory also earned Ko her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame, making her the youngest player inducted under its current qualification system.

Now competing in Malaysia, Ko brings both experience and star appeal to one of Asia’s prominent women’s golf tournaments. Her participation offers regional golf fans another opportunity to watch a player whose achievements have helped shape the modern women’s game.
